Editorial Profile

The Church Herald is circulated to approximately 20,000 households in the United States and Canada and has a large share of its readership in the Midwest as well as strengths on both coasts. The magazine serves the members of the Reformed Church in America with a quality and breadth that annually wins award recognition from both the Associated Church Press and Evangelical Press Association.

Now in its 182nd year of publication, the Church Herald--current name adopted in 1943--is the publication for the Reformed Church in America, one of the oldest Protestant denominations in North America. In 1628, Dutch settlers founded a church on Manhattan Island in what would eventually become New York City. That church and other Dutch Reformed churches preserved ties with the Reformed Church in the Netherlands until 1792, when the Reformed Church in America was founded. Today it represents a membership of varied ethnic origins while retaining an interest in its vital past. The Reformed Church maintains a worldwide mission program and an active church growth emphasis at home. It is a member of both the World and National Councils of Churches.
