These questions are drawn from feature articles in the September 2008 Church Herald and are offered as a guide for use with adult education classes or discussion groups. (Another monthly feature, Church in Conversation on page 6, already includes questions with this month’s article, “Coffee Cup Evangelism.”)

1. Have you participated in a mission trip that didn’t involve construction? How was it different from building mission trips?

2. What is your favorite memory from a mission trip?

3. How do short-term mission projects enrich the local church?

4. What factors can make (or break) a successful mission trip?

1. When have you had the opportunity to witness, and what affected whether you pursued the opportunity?

2. What are some questions you might ask to help people express their feelings about faith?

3. Describe someone you know who might be “near to the kingdom.”

4. Describe a time when you have felt “farther from the kingdom.”

5. In what ways do you find the “evangelism triangle” helpful to authentic conversation?

1. Describe a time when you have felt like a stranger in a strange land. Did anyone reach out to you?

2. Has there been a time when you have welcomed a stranger?

3. What are your personal concerns regarding assisting immigrants or refugees?
