These questions are drawn from feature articles in the October 2008 Church Herald and are offered as a guide for use with adult education classes or discussion groups. (Another monthly feature, Church in Conversation on page 7, already includes questions with this month’s article, “Foresight for the End.”)

1. Describe a time in your life—not necessarily the death of a person—when you were surprised by grief.

2. What specific things helped you move through the grieving process?

3. How do you typically respond to those who are grieving? Describe a time when you felt you were helpful to someone who was grieving.
